Even at a young age, my eldest daughter, Gwen, seem to already have an entrepreneurial mindset. It has been a few months since she told me that she wanted to have a business of her own (or something that we and her siblings can do together) so that she can help us save money. Well, she was thinking of doing something that she really want to do, like making and selling accessories, and I kind of like her business idea.
Actually, what I had in mind was putting up a gift shop that would sell all sorts of novelty items that are affordable. We're probably going to start with reselling little items and promoting them online via social networking sites and setting up an online store. We're going to start small first until we can handle operating a store. You know how it is with starting a business - there are a lot of details you have to take care of like securing business permits, looking for shop space, looking for suppliers for your store, etc. Then there's this yearly filing and payment of taxes. It's kind of a tedious thing and I don't want to worry yet about tax extension deadline should we miss paying or filing on time. I've had that kind of experience on our previous business and it was kind of a stressful thing. So, yes, starting small would probably a good thing to do for now.
I just hope that we'll be able to start soon - anytime this year would be good! I'd like to support my daughter, too, in her dream of venturing into entrepreneurship and to have her siblings get involved too in a later time. Getting the whole family, most especially my kids, into doing business together is something really good and something that I'm really excited about. :)

I also dream of putting up a gift shop. Hay, someday, In Jesus name.
