The holiday season is just around the corner, and for many moms, the ridiculous holiday requests are already starting. Hot items for every child this year seem to be those that are way beyond the tight budgets most parents are facing including iPods, tablets, eReaders, and smartphones.
Free phones don't exactly grow on trees. Instead smart phones comes with high price tags, and continually high monthly bills that we don't always like to pay. Most kids seem to be too young to even operate these expensive devices they are asking for. Long story short, kids don't always need to get everything they ask for - even though it is fun to spoil them rotten and watch their excited faces Christmas morning.
So what do you get for your child when they ask for that $250 robotic dinosaur or $300 gaming console that you can't imagine purchasing?
Something Fun
The best way to avoid a child's disappointed face on Christmas morning is, of course, by getting them a fun toy or gadget. But fun doesn't just mean bright colors and loud noises. A fun toy is usually an interactive toy that is parallel to your child's interest. Board games, handheld gaming devices, and roll playing toys, such as dolls or stuffed animals, are great examples of fun toys.
Something Educational
If you want to get the most out of a toy, then make it a challenging one. Toys that are educational and require your children to think are a great way to give your child a well-rounded education, while also providing them with hours of entertainment. Stores such as the Discovery Store and the Store of Knowledge are full of wonderful educational gifts that are both fun and practical.
Something Practical
If the toy or gadget you get your child is a little more on the practical side, they are way more likely to use it again and again. The more they use it, the more likely you are to get your money's worth out of the purchase. Legos, fun purses, or dress up clothes are all great examples of these as they can be used again and again in a variety of ways.
Always remember your budget too when shopping for kids' gifts. There is no reason to max out your credit card simply to fulfill all their dreams - especially when a newer, more wanted gaming console will be out in another year or your child's adoration for a toy will wane in a few months. Stay reasonable, yet keep your child's interests in mind, and you should be able to find great, affordable gifts that your kids will be ecstatic to unwrap this holiday season.
